Bible Study

"In the beginning was the word, and the word was with God and the word was God," (John 1:1); is a line that could be found in the book of John in the bible. While open to many interpretations, one single message here is undeniable:  God's words yield such incredible power, and it is only appropriate for the whole world to stop, be still and listen well. Understanding the words of God is necessary in living a decent life, and amongst several ways, one can comprehend the message of the scriptures by participating in a bible study.

The Bible Scripture as a Great Defense

It is undeniable that these modern times are more volatile than ever. The moral stance of the western world is said to have steeply degenerated, and everyone, no matter the age and cultural background, is at risk for falling into such worldly traps.  Every hour, an individual is besieged with several temptations such as sex, violence, and drugs that are simply ubiquitous, ever present, no matter where he or she goes. Part of this evil's pervasive presence is the fact that   the television, the movies and the internet have turned into spring boards from which materials on sex and violence are directed to the world, and anyone who is alive has no choice but to pay attention at some point.

To fight this new battle against evil, people are turning to the words of God for enlightenment and for protection. Participating in a bible study session somehow strengthens their faith, no matter what religion they belong to, and gives them the opportunity to listen to the words of God with their minds and their hearts both open.

The Truth in the Words of God

Sharpening their defense against everything evil, people who consistently attend bible study likewise arm themselves against another form of evil, false teachings that manipulate the scriptures in order to celebrate worldly principles and materialistic philosophies. Under the guise of religion, false prophets and false religious leaders preach misleading ideals that are tailored to people's wants and whims. Fortunately, seeing the truth is a good defense, and studying the verses and taking note of the bible commentary helps believers in distinguishing the truth from the lie. A bible study then, offers the chance for people to discover and discern what God is really saying, instead of manipulating God's words into messages that people want to hear.

Bible Verses for Inspiration

More than quenching an intellectual thirst though, going for a bible study is really a quest for inspiration. The verses could lift up the most broken of spirits, the most wounded of souls, and once a discussion of the verses starts, the healing too, begins.
